Kansas City 2024 Homicide #96: Double Shooting Leaves Dude Dead

This year politicos & pundits have CAREFULLY tried to tout progress on fewer murders so far this year.

However . . . 

A noticeable spike in property crime and continued citywide deadly gunfire remind locals that there's still a lot of work to accomplish.

Accordingly . . .

We share the latest deets on fatal gunfire this Saturday.

Here's is the first report . . .

Homicide Smart Ave and Bales 

This afternoon just after 4:15pm officers were called to the 300 block of Maple on shots fired. As officers were on the way they were notified that shots were fired into a vehicle that left the scene.

A few minutes later officers were called to Smart and Bales on a shooting.

On arrival on Bales officers located two adult male shooting victims there.

One shooting victim was unresponsive in a vehicle and another was outside the vehicle.

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS. EMS declared the unresponsive victim deceased at the scene and transported the other victim to the hospital and he was last listed in stable condition.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators are at the both locations canvassing for witnesses and processing for evidence.

If anyone heard or saw anything in either area or has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
