Sadly . . . The problem remains the same . . . There's not a lot of detail and/or support but the effort to focus on the Chiefs might be the best facet of this proposal.
Here are the basics and more reporting . . .
Unlike the last vote with a deal in place and commitments from the Royals and Chiefs to stay if voters approved the tax, now they are admitting this is little more of a Hail Mary, but say as they try to compete with Kansas and the state’s star bonds package they are doing everything they can to try to stay competitive.
In the latest plan, the Chiefs would have their own tax. For both teams it was 3/8 cent sales tax. Now it would be a quarter percent, so slightly less.
This goes for 20 years, instead of 40. But there was discussion by those voting no, saying neither the Chiefs nor Jackson County’s Sports Authority are in favor of this.
