Country Club Plaza New Owners Promise $100M Upgrade & Security

Again . . . As always . . .

Promises are easy to offer . . . Keeping them is a different matter altogether.

In the meantime . . .

CHECK AN ARRAY OF PLEASANTRIES, PLEDGES & PROMOTION FROM THE NEW BOSS ON THE PLAZA!!!

Some of the the highlights sound like good ideas. Some improvements & future attractions seem unworkable. We've heard most of it before and none of it REALLY considers the tragic reality . . . The overall value of the district has declined steadily over the years with more metro entertainment alternatives established every season.

One more thing . . .

LOCAL NEWS & POLITICOS FORGET THAT COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA CONFRONTS CONSTANT ACTIVIST PROTEST THAT SOMETIMES EARNS POLITICAL ENDORSEMENT AMID VIOLENT OUTBURSTS AS DEMONSTRATED MOST RECENTLY BY MAYOR Q!!!

Again . . .

Mayor Q shouting "no justice, no peace" during the BLM riots of 2020 is a topic that the current administration has forgotten and no other local media outlet wants to bring up as one of the major reasons for the recent sharp decline of the Country Club Plaza area.

Nevertheless . . .

So far, former newspaper reporter Joyce Smith has the best round-up.

We've quoted some of her highlights and offered a collection of local MSM coverage for our readers to pick apart . . .

"An office building is planned for the former Nordstrom site on the west side of the Plaza (it would have use of the 1,200 spaces in the current parking garage), as well as offices in the former Cinemark Palace at the Plaza movie theater. “Boutique office space is very desirable,” the new owners said. But retail on the first floors of both buildings.

"Residents probably won’t see the return of a movie theater (since its time has passed). Instead the new owners are focusing on higher-end entertainment uses.

"Increased security. Guards walking the Plaza beat.

"At least $100 million invested in infrastructure. “A lot of these buildings need a lot of help,” they said."
