"Kennedy Jones, a former hearing officer, took the stand on day one of the trial between the State of Missouri and Jackson County, Missouri.
"Jones said he was fired after he refused a request from the head of Tyler Technologies to add an additional 10 percent on top of every value already assessed.
"'They brought these outsiders in here raising our property taxes, and they were benefiting from it because their salaries were based on how much money they could raise the taxes,' Jones said."
