Mahomes Sr.’s defense motioned to have his blood independently tested, and the judge granted the motion. The state’s test result came back at 0.23. In Texas, drivers are considered legally intoxicated when their BAC reaches 0.08.

Lawyers discussed a plea deal for Mahomes Sr. that would include 10 years of probation. The district attorney was open to a lower number.

A tentative trial date for Mahomes Sr. is set for July 22 at 9 a.m.
