Kansas City Royals 'Explore' STAR Bonds But Were They Offered?!?

And now we share a local, corporate baseball threat for the weekend . . .

ROYALS THREATEN TO LEAVE KANSAS CITY PROPER BY WAY OF STAR BONDS!!!

A more cynical observation . . .

KANSAS POLITICOS HAVEN'T MENTIONED WANTING THE ROYALS!!! SO, CLEARLY THE HOME TEAM HOPES TO DRUM UP INTEREST!!!

To be fair . . .

KANSAS STEALING ROYALS & CHIEFS WOULD BE AN ECONOMIC BORDER WAR KILL SHOT!!!

However . . .

We didn't notice that even the most excited Kansas politicos have mentioned a desire to host fading yet costly MLB offerings and Royals aren't even included in that stupid "scoop & score" promo website which doesn't seem to have any baseball pictures as of this writing.

This is kinda like your lady friend saying that she's "exploring" the idea of leaving you for Ryan Gosling. Ken really doesn't care and hasn't offered.

However . . .

We do admire their hustle of the PR team that's working on the weekend.

Of course we want to share their side of the story . . . Here's the afternoon statement from the home team:

Royals said for the first time that STAR bonds are on the table for them. They also reiterated that they started “evaluating all options,” after the stadium sales tax extension failed just over two months ago, and have said so all along.

“As we’ve said since April 2, we must evaluate all options that may be available to us with respect to a new stadium. The Royals need a place to play baseball in the near future and the recent STAR bond discussions in Kansas provide a path for us to explore.”
