Kansas City 'Pride On The Vine' ALMOST Explained By Struggling Newspaper

Forgive us for a bit of a reality check . . .

But even a quick glance at social media or rudimentary history will reveal that "Pride" events garner a great deal of "resistance" in the urban core.

In fact . . . That's the reason why LGBTQ+ activists focus on the necessity of their own Pride community gatherings in the first place . . . To provide a sense of "place" for those who can't find it elsewhere.

Notice that "pride" events haven't been touted much by local Latinos . . . That's not to say that there aren't TONS of LGBT denizens in the local Latino community but simply to note that the expression of community is more "easily accessible" by way LGBT events rather than attempting to rewrite community social norms . . . That skew conservative and Catholic despite the best efforts of MSM to ignore this fact of life.

CAVEAT . . . Other big cities have "Latinx" (ugh) pride events so maybe this cowntown is behind the times.

Our main point . . .

Knowing quite a few people in this community . . . We're not certain how representative "Pride On The Vine" is of the current East side ethos . . .

Then again, the takeaway here might be . . .

Not to take any of this stuff too seriously.

Everybody loves a party with good in the Summer.

Here's the note . . .

The inaugural Pride on the Vine event drew close to 100 people who gathered outside of Smaxx at 1827 Vine St. Over time, Beasley said, the event grew into a yearly gathering dedicated to creating a place of inclusion and safety.

This year’s Pride on the Vine event was the fourth . . . It was held June 1. Organizers estimate more than 600 people came out to support the Black queer creatives, artists, organizations and vendors who attended.
