So far this is the 3rd homicide in KCMO since Friday which matches last week's Memorial Day Weekend pace.
There is reason for hope . . . Last year at this date on the calendar Kansas City had endured around 76 killings on its way to a record breaking year for homicide.
Still . . . The trend for Spring/Summer seems to be more violence.
Here's the first report:
Homicide 9th and Van Brunt Blvd

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. Rosilyn Temple with KC Mothers In Charge has responded to the scene to provide victim assistance to those impacted by this incident.
This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
