Over the weekend . . . We alerted our blog community to an important debate over access and shoddy downtown stadium planning.
This morning . . .
TKC CONFIRMED: KC CURRENTS STADIUM EXPOSED FOR LACKLUSTER TRANSIT ACCESS!!!
Actually, the sitch is even worse than what local public radio is willing to repeat.
Insiders tell us that the structure risks SERIOUS ADA PUSH BACK FOR LACK OF WHEELCHAIR ACCESS amongst other obvious offenses for anybody who knows this law. Sadly, it's a consideration that so many local developers & politicos overlook. 12th & Oak denizens understand that City Hall staff suffered a serious hit with a recent departure that leaves ADA compliance understaffed & under-skilled.

"Before each of the Kansas City Current's home games, more than a dozen school buses and shuttles with Current branding line up at 7th and Main and 2nd and Grand, where fans pay $20 to park in the lots and be shuttled to the stadium.
"It’s a temporary workaround, dubbed the “last stretch solution,” as the women's soccer team waits for completion of the Kansas City Streetcar’s riverfront extension, which will drop people off five minutes away from the stadium."
