The strongest solar storm conditions are expected late Friday into early Saturday, when the Planetary K-Index is forecast to be an eight. Missouri and Kansas can typically see the northern lights when the index is at a seven or higher.

The FOX4 Weather Team says that skies will be mostly clear for viewing Friday night, so it will all depend on the exact timing of the solar storm.
