Mythic Kansas City Pupper Survives Crossbow Attack

This story is noteworthy if only because we like that local animal lovers have an understanding of mythology.

Notice the name of the dog . . . Here's the reference . . .

Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo. According to the ancient Greeks, she's the goddess of nature, childbirth, wildlife, healing, the hunt, sudden death, animals, virginity, young women and archery.

Artemis used her golden bow and arrows not only to slay beasts in the mountains, but also to bring disease, plague and sudden death to women.

She seemed pretty fierce . . . Just like the poor pooch who survived a recent misfire:

"KC Pet Project is nursing a dog back to health after it was shot by someone with a crossbow. They’re calling the dog Artemis. Animal control officers with that agency discovered her on the porch of a home in east Kansas City on April 20. The dog still had the arrow or dart hanging from her body with a deep puncture wound."
