For now . . . Kansas City, Missouri keeps pro-teams if only because the Kansas GOP had bigger fish to fry during an election year.
Also . . . Some of the social media insults regarding the fate of Medicaid expansion might've hurt the feelings of the more gentle GOP souls in the Sunflower State.
Real talk . . .
Generally, Kansas Republican elected officials are often very nice people with rewarding home lives whilst most Missouri GOP denizens are LITERALLY READY TO THROW HANDS with anybody who looks at them cross-eyed . . . Even in their own party.
Seriously, the difference between Topeka & Jeff City is the difference between watching Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinny or Casino.
But I digress . . .
Here's the aftermath that isn't REALLY good news considering the teams STILL aren't talking with Jackson County and more exotic destinations have taken notice of the ongoing discord . . .
"Members of the Republican-controlled Legislature pushed a bill Tuesday that would have allowed Kansas officials to authorize at least $1 billion in bonds to cover the entire cost of building each new stadium, paying the debt off with tax revenues generated in the area over 30 years. But GOP leaders didn't bring it up for a vote before lawmakers adjourned their annual session early Wednesday.
"Some critics derided the plan as corporate welfare. Others were receptive but didn't want to pass the proposal until the Legislature approved a broad package of tax cuts for their constituents that Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly would sign — which didn't happen either."
