
For those who might be new to town . . .
Every 30-years or so . . . There's a plan to "renew" the West Bottoms that typically leaves at least half a dozen speculators and small companies bankrupt.
We hope this effort has better luck even if history has shown that locals don't really want to pay top dollar to live by the train tracks in a flood plain . . . Check-it:
The implosion is part of a new redevelopment plan with housing, offices, and more in the West Bottoms.
According to the building’s owner, SomeraRoad Inc., the nine-story building was 114 years old and has been vacant since 2003.
SomeraRoad is a New York-based developer that secured a public financing plan for a $526.7 million re-imagining of the central West Bottoms. They plan to convert 13 historic building as part of the project.
