Kansas City Playlist: Reading Leawood Hereford House Reviews

Tonight we were INSPIRED to take a glimpse at online feedback following the SHOCKING, GROSS AND UNSETTLING food contamination investigation confronting the Hereford House in Leawood.

Yes . . . This is a serious police matter at the cross-section of labor issues, mental health and the quickly unraveling fabric of American society . . . But let's not deny the dark humor, satire and snark that has accompanied this unsavory story.

To wit . . .

LET'S CELEBRATE THE FUNNIEST RECENT REVIEWS OF THE LEAWOOD HEREFORD HOUSE!!!

Again . . .

More than a few people have said this is probably the safest place to eat in the Kansas City metro right now, So these reviews SHOULD NOT influence readers one way or another but merely serve to release a bit of tension amid tough times.

Here's the first missive that captured our attention . . .

"You know how when you smell something, you can kinda taste it? I had that experience here with the seared stake. It was seasoned well but has a bit of a nut sack flavor aftertaste to it. The pickles were very crunchy and fresh but had a bit of a twang."

Didn't know they had an app . . .

"Try the dry rubbed steak (if you have the balls), and also the slippery lettuce, both my favs. One can request special sauces through various "love is love" apps!

"Oh, and the pickles! Tastes so familiar...."

It's important to look at the bright side . .  .

"The French dip is amazing. The Au Jus sauce kind of smelled like urine but other than that, phenomenal."

Our fave because most people didn't get the satire . . .

"The steak was just okay, but the mashed potatoes are soooo creamy!"

Accordingly . . .

All of this salty commentary inspires oure www.TonysKansasCity.com playlist tonight on the topic of foodie offerings . . .

Well start out surf & turf with Rock Lobster . . . Maybe the greatest seafood song ever written and apropos for the recent demise of Red Lobster.

Cherry Pie was an okay glam rock song by Warrant released in 1990 however the campy, nearly vaudevillian, cheesecake joke video and constant airplay burned the tune into the psyche of Gen-X.

Apropos for this post dedicated to online culture, Pork & Beans by Weezer also seems to consider living in meme world.

A country classic for the bridge . . . Because EVERYTHING by Hank Williams sounds good on a Saturday night in Kansas City . . .

The closer for this list was tough . . . There are a lot of directions to consider but this old school tune suits our purposes. "Beans and Corn Bread" is a 1949 jazzy jump blues song by Louis Jordan and His Tympany Five. Given that our playlists are mostly dedicated to nostalgia, oldsters might remember that the tune was used as the theme song for the WTBS program Dinner and a Movie as well as being featured in the 1992 film Malcolm X.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night.
