Other local outlets have reported the e-mail outage across all KCMO services.

Also . . . 

Insiders told us that employees were sent home earlier in the week and basically work has mostly stopped with VERY LIMITED functionality. 

However . . .

The Mayor seems upbeat and cagey about about the impact . . .

When asked about the email problem, Mayor Lucas didn't discuss the issue.

"What I know is that today I'm here; there are lots of city employees. If you go to any of our floors, if you go to community centers, if you're looking at trash pickup today. So, Kansas City is open. It is working. We refer whatever of the questions to other agencies that you have to them. And for now, we're still delivering the basic services Kansas City deserves," Lucas said.

The city council was scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon at 3.

That meeting, however, was abruptly canceled just hours before it was supposed to take place.

It's the second time a city council meeting has been canceled this week.
