Illegal Street Racers Threaten Kansas City Cinco De Mayo Weekend Takeover

Okay  . . . Before anybody panics . . . We want to note that the late night crowd on the Westside & Crossroads during first Friday was rowdy but largely harmless.

This shot of Westside Kansas City last night should look more fun than threatening for all but the most timid souls.

Yes, there was drinking in the streets and crowding busy intersections . . . But around midnight there wasn't any gunfire despite an array of police sirens.

And that's where we get to our little adventure . . .

Last night TKC noticed a crowd on the BLVD where locals blocked streets and tricked out cars took over in order to burn tires and drift in traffic. In front of a KCPD police van no less.

Nobody was hurt but we mention this interaction because the weekend will likely host more of the same as Cinco De Mayo REALLY gets going on Saturday night.

Here are www.TonysKansasCity.com we don't want to ruin anybody's party and the desperately needed revenue from nearby biz throughout the downtown area . . .

We merely mention traffic danger BECAUSE we don't want innocent Kansas City drivers to get caught off-guard.

And so . . .

We advise driver caution throughout the urban core this weekend and maybe looking a bit further up the street this evening and taking an alternative route where streets are blocked.

More to the point . . .

Street racing and takeovers have been a problem in KCMO for years and this Cinco De Mayo party weekend the trend is taking hold.

Developing . . .
