Hypocrite Kansas City Star Regrets Border War Newspaper Helped To Restart

Here's the problem . . .

There are plenty of TKC readers and Kansas City voters who are on the right side of this issue and maintain at least a semblance of logical consistency . . . Sure, the position is anti-social, reactionary and misunderstand basic economics in lieu of social media braggadocio . . . BUT it's consistent and we respect that:

Online we notice a great many voters who opposed subsidy for Chiefs & Royals and DUTIFULLY ACKNOWLEDGED the NO vote would risk departure of the teams . . . Maybe outside city limits and maybe further.

We may not agree . . . But that is an INFORMED position to uphold.

Meanwhile . . .

IT'S HYPOCRITICAL & NAIVE TO VOTE AGAINST FUNDS FOR CHIEFS & ROYALS AND THEN EXPECT THE TEAMS TO STICK AROUND TO GET SMACKED IN THE FACE AGAIN!!!

Moreover . . .

THE TEAMS HAVE BASICALLY TOLD INSIDERS THEY'RE NOT GOING "BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD" WITH CURRENT POLITICAL LEADERSHIP!!!

Like it or not . . .

Jackson County Exec Frank White has created PERMANENT ENEMIES with two pro-sports teams and it's unlikely that relationship will ever mend.

And so . . .

The newspaper forgets they were a main supporter of the NO VOTE that sent back-to-back Super Bowl champs looking elsewhere and now this editorial already seems to admit the mistake.

Check-it:

"Unfortunately, though, good sense doesn’t always rule the roost when it comes to our favorite sports teams. Kansas and Missouri might be headed back to the trenches again.

"Long story short: Kansas City voters last month rejected a sales tax to spruce up Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs and help the Royals move downtown. Almost nobody thinks the vote represents a rejection of the two teams or a readiness to see them move elsewhere.

"We love our Chiefs and Royals. At least when they’re winning. And even when they’re not, we don’t want to see them go anywhere."
