Eddie Vedder Derides Harrison Butker

This one is tough for TKC and we need the help of our most cantankerous commenters.

Here's our problem . . .

We could talk all day about Pearl Jam and the brilliance of Eddie Vedder's powerful lyrics that have defined the world for Generation X and rock fans across the globe.

In fact, we recently celebrated Pearl Jam's return to the top of the charts at the outset of this year.

On the other hand . . .

TKC is getting TIRED & BORED with Harrison Butker not only because he's just a kicker but also because his comments aren't anything we didn't hear back in Catholic school.

Of course we already know the reactionary take . . .

We expect that right-wing critics will bash the old school rocker going up against the younger Super Bowl baller.

To that . . .

We can only suggest that when Butker is Vedder's age . . . It's doubtful people will be talking about him very much OR interested in anything he has to say OR still performing at the top of his game and playing to sold out shows like Vedder and Pearl Jam.

But what do we know???  Butker could be President by that point.

Now . . .

Here's where we need the help of our right-wing readers . . .

This debate makes us feel just a bit "seasoned" for siding with Vedder over the home town champ.

And so . . .

We're hoping that all the nasty comments about Vedder might give us a laugh and remind us that some of our curmudgeonly readership skews even older than TKC and mostly echos alt-right talking points because it's too difficult thinking about "culture war" issues outside their echo chamber.

Accordingly . . .

We pulled this comment because we think it's a relevant counterpoint and something that reminds us of our more optimistic days  . . .

“You know, the irony was that this football player … started telling men to ‘don’t forget to puff up your chest and be more masculine,’” the Pearl Jam frontman said. “‘Don’t lose your masculinity.’ The irony was that when he was saying that, he looked like such a f#cking pu##y.”

He then left fans with one simple ethos before kicking off Pearl Jam’s set, saying, “There’s nothing more masculine than a strong man supporting a strong woman. People of quality do not fear equality.”

Eddie Vedder slams Harrison Butker at Pearl Jam show: 'Nothing more masculine than ... supporting a strong woman'

"You see the kicker doesn't have the pads because he doesn't tackle anybody or get tackled - but he started telling men, 'Don't forget to puff up your chest and be more masculine,'" Vedder railed at the Las Vegas concert.
