Show-Me Initiative Petition Switcheroo Against Pro-Choice Activists

Progress report on Missouri changing the rules rather than lose an upcoming election fight. 

It's a nice theory but, someday, might hurt their cause as well . . .

Here's another tacit admission that abortion restrictions are unpopular and federal intervention is likely:

The resolution, if passed by both chambers, would ask voters whether it should be harder to amend Missouri’s constitution through the initiative petition process.

Through the resolution, it would take both a simple majority of votes and a majority of Missouri’s eight congressional districts to pass a constitutional amendment.

Currently, a simple majority vote is required to pass an amendment once it makes it onto the ballot.

Missouri House votes to make it harder for residents to amend the constitution

The Republican resolution would ask voters whether it should be harder to amend Missouri's constitution through the initiative petition process. It comes as Missouri groups collect signatures for a ballot initiative protecting abortion rights.
