KCPD Widow Shares Testimony After Deadly Crash Conviction

Heartbreaking words outside the courtroom deserve attention following this verdict . . .

 Jerron Lightfoot was sentenced to 10-years in prison on Wednesday afternoon, in connection to a fatal February 2023 crash, killing a KCPD officer, his K9 and a pedestrian.

Jackson County Judge Sarah Castle gave Lightfoot the maximum sentence under his plea agreement.

“I just wanted to say we are very satisfied with the outcome, and we’ll continue to live day by day and see where the next chapter takes us,” said Cassie Muhlbauer, who spoke publicly for the first time Wednesday following her husband’s death.

The sentencing came after an emotional morning of victim impact statements, sometimes interrupted by tears.
