KCPD Alarm Ordinance Crackdown: Private Alarms Now Require 52 Buck Registration

As of April 25, 2024, permits for residential and commercial alarm systems in Kansas City, Mo. will be processed through CryWolf Services.

Apply and pay the $52 permit fee online at www.crywolfservices.com/kansascitymo.

Permits are required for alarms that are connected to emergency assistance and could elicit a response from police.

Alarm Ordinance

Kansas City’s alarm ordinance was implemented to reduce the number of police dispatches to false alarms. The ordinance encourages alarm users and alarm businesses to properly use alarm systems and to maintain their operational reliability. The ordinance requires that all alarm users obtain an alarm permit from the Police Department. Police response on an alarm activation will be denied until the alarm user has obtained the alarm permit.
