"Anti-Semitism, when we start to see it really rise, indicates something about the health of the society," a spokesperson said. "This is happening right in our backyard, right in our community, too, not just on the national level."

The American Jewish Committee hosted a regional summit on Tuesday, titled "Driving Out Darkness in the Heartland."

The summit was aimed at addressing and strategizing against the rising tide of anti-Semitism.
