Kansas City 'Lead Role' To Keep Royals Deserves Skepticism

The ideas that KCMO can take over downtown stadium talks is far fetched and doesn't deserve any attention until somebody shows voters a funding mechanism.

Again . . .

- Port KC doesn't have that kind of cash.

- Any bond issue would would require a vote and only GO Bonds could raise the EPIC capital needed.

- Again, a sales tax increase would require Missouri Buy-In and that's not going to happen.

Of course we're willing to accept that KCMO could "take the lead" but . . .

WITHOUT ANY TALK OF FUNDING MECHANISMS, KANSAS CITY WORKING TO KEEP THE ROYALS IS JUST EMPTY HYPE!!!

In fact . . .

This reports mostly looks like an attempt to pass the buck to Exec Frank White as Mayor Q takes more heat behind the scenes . . .

"Kansas City Manager Brian Platt offered reassurance last week as the teams consider next steps. The city will take a lead role from here on in trying to keep the teams happy, by learning from others’ mistakes."
