Kansas City 2024 Homicide Count Hits #40 After Double 'Late Death' Gunfire Reports

At the outset of Spring/Summer our local homicide count stands significantly behind last year's record-breaking pace BUT right around the same level of the past four years which have been some of the most violent in local recorded history.

Here's the aftermath report after the latest killing . . .

Homicide 1800 block of Hardesty - Late Death

On April 12, 2024 just after 10:30 pm officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Hardesty on a shooting call. On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim inside a vehicle there, unresponsive.

EMS responded as well and transported the victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene for evidence and canvassed for witnesses that night.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting took place at that location when the victim had an interaction with one or more suspects that escalated into shots being fired, and the victim being struck.

Yesterday, detectives were notified the victim died from his injuries. The Homicide Unit will take over the investigation which remains ongoing.
