Kansas City 2024 Homicide Count Hits #35 After Deadly Gunfire Near Van Brunt Blvd

Tragically, so much talk of election victory hasn't changed much on increasingly violent local streets. 

Slowly but surely, after an arctic freeze earlier this year that paused homicide numbers . . . The count is creeping up to the same level it has seen over the past 4 years. 

Here is the first report of the DOUBLE SHOOTING scene this evening:

Homicide 27th and Van Brunt

Tonight around 9:30 PM police officers were in the area of 27th and Van Brunt when they heard a sound of shots.

Officers moved into the area where they believed the shots were coming from and located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS responded and declared the male deceased.

The initial responding officers located an additional adult male victim near by. He was suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are trying to determine what led up to the shooting.

Investigators are gathering evidence and interviewing any potential witnesses.
