A longtime Kansas City elected official re-enters the political fray and threatens to upset the balance of power amongst Missouri Democratic Party hopefuls.

Gov. Mike Parson appointed Sen. Greg Razer, D-Kansas City, to serve on the State Tax Commission. He had filed to run for re-election for the 7th District State Senate seat last month but has now withdrawn from the race, according to the Missouri Secretary of State’s website.
