There's a great deal of debate about downtown tax breaks for the stadium but one piece of the puzzle has garnered very little reporting.
The www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community question that's mostly unanswered:
WHAT HAPPENS TO TAX BREAKS AT THE FORMER KANSAS CITY STAR PRINT FACILITY IF/WHEN STADIUM TAX PASSES?!?
A brief bit of background . . .
The city in 2015 extended a property tax abatement on the site through 2030. It initially was approved in 2002 to help facilitate construction.
Ambassador Hospitality paid $30.1 million for the building in May 2019.
We're guessing that the incentives probably will be erased, forgiven or forgotten when the building inevitably bites the dust.
In the meantime . . . Local news doesn't REALLY like talking about this aspect of the deal.
