Missouri Legislator Launches 'Taylor Swift Act' Targeting Nasty DeepFake AI Pix

We'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope this bit of policy was launched for the right reasons and not just publicity.

However . . .

Even with the assistance of AI . . . Parody images have ALWAYS BEEN PROTECTED BY THE FIRST AMENDMENT and if this law isn't written precisely . . . It might be taking aim and some of the better political cartoons.

"Rep. Adam Schwadron, R-St. Charles, is sponsoring the 'Taylor Swift Act,' aptly named after the incident last month where the pop star was falsely depicted in pornographic images.

His legislation would crack down on pornographic deepfakes, imposing severe penalties for those who create or share the maliciously altered images. Schwadron’s bill was heard by the House Special Committee on Innovation and Technology on Tuesday, but no vote was held at this hearing."
