Kansas City Troost Rebrand Conversation

First off . . .

This post shares AN EXCELLENT LOCAL PODCAST and offers an important perspective on the Troost Avenue debate

Here's our only problem and ongoing objection . . .

More than keeping the moniker, the bigger objection from many voters is that activists and faith leaders seem to want to SKIP OVER CODIFIED PROCESSES INVOLVED IN KCMO STREET NAME CHANGES.

Kansas City's favorite juice man imagines people endorsing slavery or racism and that's simply not the case for most reasonable people . . . Instead, there are VALID objections to activists changing street names just because they've garnered a few thousand social media likes WITHOUT FOLLOWING RULES ALREADY IN PLACE.

NOBODY is stopping this guy from getting thousands of petition signatures and putting his idea to a vote.

Instead we're asked to believe that racism is to blame . . . More likely, it's mostly good old fashioned Kansas City idleness and other more pressing priorities that have kept the name intact.

In fairness . . . Here's a more hopeful view .  . .

"Troost Ave is one of the biggest streets in KC. It also so happens to be named after a slave owner. For decades now, Troost has been used a redline to divide the city between black and white. For the past two years, Chris Goode, owner of @rubyjeansjuicery , has been spearheading the movement to rebrand and change Troost Ave to TRUTH AVE. Listen to the new episode of Prospero’s Pit on all streaming platforms or watch on YouTube."

Here's the clip that captured my attention . . .
