So . . . We're getting word back from our blog community after the parade and here's the story that won't appear in mainstream media reports:
ATTENDANCE DECLINED DRAMATICALLY AT KANSAS CITY'S ST. PADDY'S PARADE!!!
It was a little colder but sunny and mostly above 40 degrees Fahrenheit . . .
Consider . . .
Midday Sunday isn't really a great time for a parade . . . People are getting ready for the work week and mostly wanting spend their last few hours of weekend down time relaxing rather than stressing over a family outing.
Still . . . This comment resonates and offers a bit of disappointment . . .
"There was maybe a thousand people on the whole route, and that’s a stretch. Between 35-38 and Broadway there was maybe 200. The streets were bare, the parade was a dud and it looked like the ratio of police to people was 1/10. Cancel this thing next year and the city will save so much money"
