Kansas City Police Supporters Push Guv Parson For Pardon After Britt Reid Pass

Nearly universal outrage erupted this weekend after Missouri Governor Mike Parson commuted the prison sentence of former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, who was convicted in a 2021 drunk driving incident that left a girl with severe brain injuries.

Of course local progressive news outlets offered requisite criticism against the Guv but their reports don't carry a lot of credibility in an overwhelmingly red state that often discounts advocacy from progressive media.

Instead . . .

Our TKC blog community looks to the right-wing for a better sampling of Missouri's Republican constituency.

Accordingly . . .

Conservative activist Chris Stigall denounced the Jeff City honcho and brashly noted the leader as "the dumbest Governor in the country."

The BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS noted this comment because it offered a glimpse at Kansas City Police supporters expressing frustration amid the ongoing imprisonment of former detective Eric DeValkenaere.

Another sample Stigall's outrage that's even more relevant . . .

"Hey @GovParsonMO - you’re letting #EricDeValkenaere stay in a prison for doing his job and you’re letting a privileged, multiple offender who nearly killed a little girl walk?"

The defense from the the current administration was less than inspiring amid so many similar GOP complaints from across Missouri.

However . . . The words offer a bit of foreshadowing . . .

Take a look:

"A spokesman for Missouri’s Republican chief executive said Reid had completed his alcohol abuse treatment program and has served more prison time than most individuals convicted of similar offenses."

Remember . . .

Last year when word of a pardon or commutation of sentence for DeValkenaere surfaced -- The Guv leaned on his record.

Now . . .

FOLLOWING OUTRAGE OVER BRITT REID'S PASS OUT OF JAIL, KANSAS CITY POLICE SUPPORTERS PRESS GUV PARSON FOR AN EVEN MORE CONTROVERSIAL POWER MOVE!!!

Mr. Stigall's comments are just the first high profile outcry . . . Insiders expect more political pressure in the coming days.

The Guv has maintained that he wants to let the legal process play out . . . After two appeals have been denied, the convicted former KCPD Detective now has one last chance to convince the Missouri Supreme Court but that process could take months if not years.

Meanwhile, in more than a few notes passed to www.TonysKansasCity.com . . .

Insiders suggest the Britt Reid power move MIGHT HAVE been a "practice run" for a decision that would spark even more intense push back.

What we know FOR CERTAIN is that advocates for police across the state are utilizing outcry over the Britt Reid decision to leverage ongoing activism for Devalkenaere's release and the Britt Reid early release has galvanized Show-Me State GOP police supporters to work even harder to advance their agenda.
