Kansas City Police Resolve Shotgun Standoff Without Injury

Tonight . . . Just a quick look at police working local streets and this report sent to local media:

Operation 100 5200 Block of Brooklyn

This evening just around 5:25PM, officers were dispatched to a home in the 5200 block of Brooklyn Ave on a report of an Assault.

While officers were on scene, they contacted the calling party to gather further information into the incident. At that time, officers were told by the caller that his neighbor had verbally threatened him. While officers were conducting their investigation, the adult male subject in the neighboring residence exited his home armed with a shotgun. He pointed the firearm at the responding officers and refused to put the weapon down as officers were retreating to cover and giving verbal commands to stop the weapon.

The officers immediately backed away and called additional officers to the location to assist. The male subject barricaded himself inside of his home and refused to exit while making threatening statements towards the police.

Officers called for an operation 100/ police standoff to bring additional resources and trained negotiators to the scene.

Negotiators were able to contact the male subject and made several attempts to peacefully talk him out of the residence and surrender to police.

Negotiators were able to contact the male and safely talk him out of the residence just after 8:30PM. He was taken into custody and there were no injuries to anyone involved.
