Kansas City Homicide #21: Deadly Gunfire After East Side Dispute

We notice that a couple of homicides have been removed from the daily analysis published by police. This often happens as old cases are reclassified amid new information.

Nevertheless . . . Tragic local violence continues to escalate amid warmer weather.

Here's a morning news roundup starting with the first report of a deadly KCMO shooting and then more coverage:

Homicide- 7300 block of Park Rd

This morning, just after 5:30 AM, officers were dispatched to the 7300 block of Park Road.

When officers arrived, they were summoned to a nearby residence. When police entered the residence, they located two adult male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

EMS responded alongside police personnel and transported one adult victim to an area hospital, where he is being treated for injuries. An additional adult male victim was unresponsive inside the residence, and declared deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation is believed the shooting stemmed from an argument between several people when an adult male fired shots.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements.

Detectives are actively working on identifying a person of interest and police do not currently have anyone in custody.

This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

If anyone was in or around the area at this time and saw or heard anything they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
