Kansas City 2024 Homicide Count Hits #22 After Deadly Double Shooting

The impact of late night local gunfire crossed the state line as police were called to investigate early this morning.

In our unofficial www.TonysKansasCity.com count that's based on the KCPD daily homicide analysis. It looks the like we've hit #22 so far this year compared to 26 at this time last year.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide- 3901 Rainbow Blvd., KC,KS

Early this morning, just after 12:45AM officers were dispatched to KU Hospital on a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they were advised by hospital staff that two adult males were transported by private conveyance to the hospital suffering from gunshot trauma. Those two victims were both pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Preliminary information is believed the shooting occurred in a wooded area somewhere within the Kansas City, Missouri limits.

An adult male subject is in police custody for further investigation. We are not currently searching for any additional persons of interest at this time.

This case is considered ongoing and is being investigated as a homicide.

Homicide detectives have responded to the scene and will begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
