Kansas City 2024 Homicide #27: Police Investigate Deadly Gunfire

Last year at this date the record breaking KCMO homicide count had already numbered 34. 

There is a bit of progress as the warmer weather begins but the current number is basically the same as last year and might only reflect the impact of a historic arctic cold streak from January.

Homicide 94th and Cable

This morning around 1:26 A.M. officers were dispatched to the area of 94th terrace and Cable Road on the report of a dead body.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. EMS was summoned and pronounced the victim deceased.

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to try to give detectives more information about what led up to the incident.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
