Kansas City 2024 Homicide #20: Police Report Fatality Near Front St.

Something to consider . . .

As of this writing Kansas City now stands only two homicides behind last year's record breaking pace.

Over the past two weeks homicides have spiked dramatically as temperatures have warmed.

Accordingly, here's the first report tonight and more coverage from TV news . . .

Homicide Front St. And N Century Ave

Tonight just after 6pm officers were dispatched to Front St and N. Century Ave. on a reported dead body.

On arrival officers located an adult male victim who was unresponsive and appeared to be injured.

Officers rendered aid and called in EMS who declared the victim deceased.

A subject of interest was taken into custody near the scene by responding officers for further investigation.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and looking to gather more information to determine what led up to the victim being injured.

The cause and manner of death are currently under investigation and will be determined by the medical examiner.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
