Economic Benefit Of Chasing Kansas City Royals Out Of Town?!?

The post title is a bad joke . . . Of course . . .

In much the same way that so many amateur economists love to quote studies they don't really understand.

And amid so much deliberation over financial projections we ask . . .

WHAT'S THE ECONOMIC BENEFIT OF KANSAS CITY ROYALS LEAVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?!?!

Again . . .

We REALLY don't care how readers vote. Do what you want . . . Influence peddling is never a good read and even social media is trying to phase out the off-putting practice

TKC only serves to point out the ridiculous nature of local punditry that doesn't want to understand the REALITY of this discussion . . .

OF COURSE THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS ARE HOLDING THIS COWTOWN HOSTAGE WITH NASTY THREATS!!!

It's not right . . . It doesn't engender "goodwill" but it's a great view of HOW THE WORLD REALLY WORKS . . . Go ask ugly women & broke men for a lesson in cruel reality for those who don't believe TKC.

And here's the problem with some of the arguments of the opposition . . .

WHAT ARE OPPONENTS OFFERING IN RETURN?!? NO SPORTS TEAMS AND VICTORY FOR BROKEN IDEOLOGY?!?

And that's the point . . .

For those of us who don't hang out at Crossroads tattoo shops & LGBT bars . . . We're not getting much in return for potentially chasing away Kansas City Chiefs & Royals.

And so . . .

Those who want to talk economics make a great case against the team but FAIL to address the needs of voters who won't see any more money in their pocket BUT WILL be suffer the loss of local professional sports.

QUESTION 1 FAILS & THE PRIZE IS MORE POWER FOR KC TENANTS AND AMATEUR POLITICAL CONSULTANTS?!?

More importantly . . . So far the only answer to valid concerns about relocation is that the Chiefs & Royals are bluffing . . . But that debate tactic requires that voters trust in keyboard warriors and activists over the public statements of front office leadership for both of KC's teams.

Again . . .

We look forward to your perspective and share this far more critical perspective that offers economic info with absolutely no real world connection for the average resident . . .

"The Royals estimate that the stadium and ballpark district will generate $1.2 billion in annual economic output once the stadium is up and running. But a majority of economists agree that stadiums, no matter their location, do not deliver an economic boon to cities. Often, any money made in a new stadium district isn’t new spending — it’s just moved to a new location.

"Much of that estimate is based on the assumption that more fans will come to watch games in a new stadium with, after recent trades, a potentially more winning team.

"Multiple studies have shown that any “novelty effect” that brings more fans to a new stadium wears off after just a few years. Decades of research show that there is “no systemic interaction” between a new stadium and better team performance or attendance."

Kansas City Chiefs and Royals say stadium deals will help the community. Economists disagree

The deals from the teams come after months of fraught negotiations with Jackson County and community groups. The teams call the deals historic. Community groups and economists aren't so sure.
