Crossroads Folk Song Documentary Against Kansas City Royals Downtown Stadium

A Kansas City creative effort kind reminds us of a local version of Scorsese's The Last Waltz

Local news covered the jam session this week . . . But the clip we're sharing this morning has a bit more soul . . . Check more backstory and then take a listen . . .

"Musician Kris Bruders started writing a protest song as an exercise, and asked the public for more verses. Musician Cody Wyoming got involved, and they decided to partner with Rural Grit, To help get the word out, and get other musicians involved. Due to self preservation and community concerns, Rural Grit had already begun to spearhead a "Save The Crossroads" campaign.  Rural Grit is a KC music collective, that promotes Folk, Blues, Country and other varieties of American "roots music".  Their weekly event, the Rural Grit Happy Hour, has been presented every Monday  6-9 at The Brick (One of the music venues that is in danger from this Stadium Proposal), For the last 20 years, and is one of the most important cultural institutions, in Modern KC music History, and is integral to the Music and Arts communities of our city. It is endangered by this proposition. And would be beyond difficult and complicated to find a new home for this special, important, and uniquely "Kansas City" Institution.  Their Executive Director, Kim Stanton, was crucial in helping Bruders, and Wyoming, get organized, and get the word out . . . This short film was Produced and Directed by Cody Wyoming. The Director of Photography and Editor was Todd Norris. Additional performance footage by David Hakan. With Special thanks to Mat Adkins and The Pairing, for providing the location for the  interviews, and Sheri Parr (and her wonderful staff) at The Brick, as well as Rural Grit, and the Rural Grit Happy Hour,  for the performance location.
