"On this first day of Lent, we turn to God for mercy and healing for our broken world."

As Kansas City prepared to celebrate its Super Bowl win, local Catholic John Lopez prayed on Feb. 14 there would be "no violence ... just have everybody come together as a community." Hours later, those prayers were dashed.
