Many, but not all, Americans have seemingly lost their patience with funding the ongoing stalemate in Eastern Europe and a bloody conflict with no end in sight and the potential to provoke a nuclear war.
There are worthwhile arguments in favor of the war. Armed conflict has damaged Russia and killed THOUSANDS of their troops. The conflict has exposed unimaginable internal divisions and revealed that their war tactics are still stuck in a bygone era predicated mostly on attrition. Without the Ukraine war we wouldn't have known that Russia is seemingly vulnerable to drone attacks and a myriad of tech powered assaults.
Then again . . . The world PROBABLY & BEGRUDGINGLY has to thank Vlad for his patience in not yet dropping the bomb and bringing this "special military operation" and humanity to the breaking point.
Here's the problem and a peek at American hypocrisy . . .
PRO-WAR PROGRESSIVES ARE REPUGNANT!!! ARGUING FOR KILLING IN EASTERN EUROPE & THEN TOUTING DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION STATESIDE REVEALS A SCHIZOPHRENIC WORLDVIEW!!!
The arguments in favor of the war are brutal and indifferent to the death & despair caused by war. There's no way to balance this kind of callous worldview with hugs & kisses for everybody here in U.S. and saving the planet from climate change . . . Positions typically argued by progressives.
And, of course, DEI powered pro-war advocacy is the tact that the newspaper is taking as of late.
Here's a war cry from their Pulitzer Prize winning pundit . . .
"I am writing to ask those of you citizens who are still pro-democracy to call your U.S. representatives and urge them to support the urgently needed $95 billion foreign aid package that just passed the Senate with a these-days-miraculous 70 votes."
Here's a line that imagines an expanding European conflict that most Americans aren't considering . . .
"In his mostly mind-numbing recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Putin said he isn’t attacking Poland, where Russia has “no interests.” You know, just like he said even after invading Ukraine that he wouldn’t be doing that. But in the interview, Putin also spoke about Poland in many of the same false and scary ways he has always spoken about Ukraine."
