Kansas City Police Investigate After Dead Woman Discovered In Field

Context . . . 

The KCPD daily homicide analysis reveals that the 2024 homicide count now totals 16 and this poor soul might soon be added to that list given the circumstances of her demise. 

At this date last year KC's homicide total was 20. 

Obviously, early Spring weather might be a factor in the quick murder spike and return to another near record breaking pace . . .

Suspicious Death 3600 Blk of Oakley

On 02-19-24 just before midnight officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Oakley on a reported dead body.

Upon arrival they located an adult female victim in a field. She appeared to be suffering from unknown bodily trauma. EMS responded and declared the victim deceased.

Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene technicians are processing the scene for evidence to try to give investigators more information about what occurred.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

Woman found dead in a field in east Kansas City; police

Kansas City Police got a call near East 36th and Oakley in Kansas City, just southeast of 35th and Cleaver, for reports of a dead body.

On Monday, just before midnight, officers were dispatched to 36th and Oakley Avenue for a body found.
