Kansas City P&L District Bar Tab Arrest And 'Animal' Comment Spark Controversy

Chaotic downtown Kansas City night life video remind us that party time inside the loop is extremely overrated.

Tonight we share the highlights of the Star's reporting which mostly relies on the testimony of some lady caught on camera screaming after servers claimed she didn't pay her booze bill . . .

The bigger question . . .

WILL KANSAS CITY BOOZE DISTRICT TOUGH TALK TURN INTO THE NEXT LOCAL CIVIL RIGHTS STRUGGLE?!?

Here's some of the sitch . . .

"In the video, one of the officers is heard yelling at her: 'If you act like an animal, we’re going to treat you like an animal.' Another officer curses at and threatens to arrest the person recording the video.

"She had an argument with a bartender who said she did not pay for an alcoholic drink. She said she was charged for the drink that she did not order or receive. She also said she recalled giving the bartender her debit card and that it was declined when he tried to charge her.

"She said some details of the incident remain unclear because she suffered memory loss as a result of her injuries. The bartender summoned help from security guards and off-duty officers, who arrested her."

One final passage worth sharing . . .

"City charges allege she yelled and screamed obscenities at the manager inside a crowded bar and jumped over the bar to grab her credit card back.

"The charges accuse her of intentionally stealing a drink, kicking a police officer on the left side of his head, and biting him on his inner thigh. She said she doesn’t remember being placed in a police holding cell and is unsure how she got there. She recalled being hysterical."

Update . . .

TKC noticed that the claim any officer said "We're going to treat you like an animal" is suspect at best. From our viewing of the clip . . . That exact comment can't be heard.
