Kansas City Mayor Q Denounces 'Thug' Slur Against Mass Shooting Suspects

Our main question . . .

WHY WOULD AN ELECTED OFFICIAL WASTE TIME DEFENDING SUSPECTS WHO ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED ONE OF THE WORST DEADLY PARADE SHOOTINGS IN LOCAL HISTORY?!?

Your guess is as good as mine but . . .

WHILST THE FAMILY OF THE VICTIM PLAN A FUNERAL & SO MANY OTHERS RECOVER, MAYOR Q OFFERS HIS DEFENSE OF JUVENILE SHOOTER SUSPECTS!!!

Discretion is often the better part of valor and there MIGHT be some worthwhile discussion of the racial assumptions in this case . . . For instance . . .

The vast majority of Black kids in Kansas City are GOOD KIDS. Full stop. That's what's missing from this conversation and that's what Mayor Q might have reminded people watching partisan mass shooting drama unfold.

So many people who think crime stats are the most important representation of the real world mistakenly spend too many hours looking for perpetrators often fail to understand so many (most) people those numbers DON'T include.

Yes, there is a deadly local crime problem that's primarily impacting KC's Black Community . . . Locals are obliged to look at stats and inform themselves about their implications but then we NEED to take a step back and realize that the overwhelming majority of people we see in our day to day lives are not criminals, don't commit mass shootings and are living in circumstances remarkably similar to our own.

A message of unity would've been far more powerful in the aftermath of tragedy.

Instead . . . Here's Mayor Q being very polite as he lashes out at political opposition, continues his crusade against gun rights and quizzically defends the honor of suspected mass shooters:

"I have respect for the governor. We get along well," Lucas told Kraske. "I disagree strongly with how he would describe that situation. I certainly do think this was criminal activity. It was lawlessness, and I think that that's troubling. But ‘thugs’ is a dog whistle in the most classic sense."

"I've seen this dog whistle time and again. There's this kind of giant conservative theory on social media now that the reason these mug shots haven't been shown is because the purported defendants are Black, and if it were a White defendant we would have just shown them. That is absolutely preposterous. There are protections to juveniles," he added.
