Kansas City Comedy Club Suffers Walkout After George Floyd Joke

In general . . . Our love for standup comedy has faded because a lot of it seems too preachy and intentionally divisive rather than provocative.

Like most things . . . The desperate need for attention drives the discourse rather than intriguing ideas or even better . . . Bawdy chuckles.

We still haven't gotten around to watching Dave Chappelle's latest and he's one of our faves.

However . . .

Thanks to TKC readers for finding this local connection to the standup game that sparked harsh feelings, a few laughs and a great deal of social media clicks . . . Which, again, was kinda the point.

For real fans of comedy . . .

We've seen this kind of performance before when, at the pinnacle of his career, Andrew Dice Clay released The Day The Laughter Died knowing that his fame was soon to expire and his act was getting old . . . The classic comedy album features the controversial funny man bombing on stage at smaller venues whilst brutally fighting with hecklers.

"David Lucas, a native of Macon, Georgia, was at a Funny Bone Comedy Club in Kansas City, Missouri last month as part of his 2024 tour. During the event, Lucas caused several audience members to storm out of the venue after joking that he would have shot Floyd instead of kneeling on his neck. He also praised Kyle Rittenhouse as they were leaving.

"This video of the KC event was released by Lucas on his YouTube channel last week and has since gone viral on social media."
