The local homicide count is slowly creeping up along with higher temperatures.
An arctic blast cooled the numbers early in the year but now the pace quickens. Last year at this time there were 21 homicides reported . . . In the past week KCMO has recorded more than half a dozen killings including this one.
Here is the first report:
Homicide 3200 Blk E 32nd
Tonight at around 9:40pm officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of E 32nd street on a sound of shots. While en route, the call was upgraded to a shooting.
Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim at the fire station nearby. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. To the west of the fire station officers located an additional adult male victim also suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. EMS was summoned and declared him deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicated the victims were possibly in a disagreement with other unknown individuals.
Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to try to give detectives more information about what led up to the incident.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
