Council Moves To Kill Mission Gateway

Apropos for #TBT, here's an update on a long overdue vote to cut LONGTIME loses on this project that never came to fruition despite a litany of promises . . .

"The City Council now will consider eliminating the CID and terminating TIF project plan. The CID would have placed an additional 2% sales tax on purchases made in the district beginning Jan. 1. However, because there has been no development to generate sales tax, no money has been collected under the CID.

"The proposal wouldn’t dissolve the entire TIF district, but it would void the existing plan that was approved last year. Any future TIF proposals would require additional approval from the City Council.

"The City Council will vote on Feb. 21 whether to eliminate the tax incentives."
