Controversial Kansas City 'Gas Station Moratorium' Moves Forward

Once again we'll find out if our betters on the council understand the laws of supply and demand.

To be fair . . .

In many parts of KCMO there are ugly swaths of road with far too many gas stations that stay in business only because it's the closest thing to a grocery store in the vicinity.

Remember that we talked about this legislation earlier in the year.

Here's the latest . . .

"The City Plan Commission gave the green light Tuesday to a proposal placing a temporary moratorium on approvals for any new gas station permit through Aug. 8.

"The proposal now goes to the full city council, which will begin discussions on the idea at its meeting Thursday, for approval before taking effect."

The Kansas City council will review a recommendation to place a six-month moratorium on new gas stations in the city limits so staff can review rules on gas stations.
