Politico Warns Against 'Trump Republican' Jackson County Takeover

In her latest blast Missouri State Rep. Ingrid Burnett issues a dire warning against the potential Republican takeover of the Jackson County Legislature during the 2024 election cycle.

Remember that we talked about this on Friday and today's meeting will be a show down worth watching.

Context . . .

Legislator DeRon McGee is out and wisely wants to stay away from this dumpster fire during 2024 and whilst the stadium hot mess plays out.

Legislator Megan "Captain Marvel" Marshall sparked this switcheroo amid behind the scenes personal beef and a very public show down with one of her colleagues.

So far, Legislator Donna Peyton is the only Democratic Party member openly vying for the position with her colleague Venessa Huskey ready to serve as Vice Chair.

However . . .

A (typically) panicked e-mail blast from Rep. Burnett seems to indicate that Legislator and congressional contender Sean Smith will be vying for chair rather than the 5th District Legislator Jeanie Lauer serving as bi-partisan compromise.

But let's move beyond the courthouse sausage-making . . . Here's the fun part . . .

CHECK E-MAIL BLAST PANIC, FEAR & LOATHING THAT "TRUMP REPUBLICANS" MIGHT TAKE OVER JACKSON COUNTY!!!

It's almost as if the QAnon Shaman and his horns were on the courthouse steps . . .

Check the money line:

"Meanwhile, we have a super-majority of Democratic members on our County Legislature, and they are preparing to vote for a new Chair. There are two members seeking this seat - one is an elected at-large Democrat and the other an in-district Republican. I have been made aware that some of our Democratic members are preparing to vote for the Republican for no other reason than to settle petty differences. Can you imagine a Trump Republican leading the legislature? Can we not find common ground to select one of the seven Democrats to lead Jackson County rather than a Republican member, who clearly and vocally challenges our own Congressman Cleaver and would likely lead important committees giving him a clear platform to preach his rhetoric?

"This year, Trump will be on the ballot again an in the state of Missouri likely to receive well over the 2020 vote of over 15% against President Biden. Are we going to let that happen in Jackson County?

"Are we prepared to watch our elected County Legislators cede the bully pulpit, gain the agenda and shift the balance of County Government to a Trump Republican during one of the most important Presidential elections of our Country's history? Over personalities?"
