Kansas City Star Weekly Electronic Subscription Price Skyrockets

This morning the news isn't good for dead-tree media still attempting to make a late transition to the digital era.

The basics . . .

KANSAS CITY STAR ELECTRONIC SUBSCRIPTIONS SKYROCKET TO MORE THAN 11 BUCKS A WEEK FOR MANY SUBSCRIBERS!!!

We've all seen that dollar-for-the-first-month introductory offer on the webpage but apparently that promotional tease turns financially serious later on in the billing cycle.

For those already doing the math in their head . . .

More than 10 bucks a week is BIG MONEY on a yearly basis and not competitive with much better offerings. We've seen the bills and a few social media postings to verify these numbers.

Here's a better explanation from a KICK-ASS www.TonysKansasCity.com Reader . . .

"I always had the print and electronic version of the Star.  That is until 2021 when they increased the print version to about $1,400 a year.  I called them an cancelled after about 30 years.  I kept the electronic version because it was about $12.00 a month.  Still expensive, but I liked the Sports and reading what the Red Star editorials had to say.

"Much to my surprise I received this in the mail today.  The electronic version of the KC Star will now be $11.98 PER WEEK plus tax.  That’s over $624 a year not even including the tax.   What the Heck?  I could get USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post for less than that.

"The Star is clearly in a death spiral…..Over $624 a year plus tax for an electronic version. This is absolutely crazy."
