Kansas City Star Scribe Denounces Alleged Racist 'Lynching' Of Jackie Robinson Statue

Quick question . . .

RIGHT NOW IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE THAT THIS KANSAS VANDALISM WAS RACIALLY MOTIVATED?!?!

In fact . . .

Statues have been stolen across the region for years and the movie is mostly monetary gain.

Don't worry, there are a couple of examples that come to mind . . .

In Meth Town some dude stole a "Pioneer Woman" statue and was not subsequently charged with kidnapping.

Even more recently, in the Northland a Native American woman statue was stolen and, as far as we know, the effort was not genocidal.

Nevertheless . . .

We must defer to this white lady's judgement because she won a Pulitzer and this is a blog written from my mom's basement . . . Accordingly, here's here widely celebrated and possibly accurate prose:

"Not just any old racist has the energy, commitment or feel for slavery-era symbolism to saw through a more than 300-pound bronze likeness, leaving only Robinson’s feet behind in McAdams Park.

"It takes a special criminal to steal something that meant so much to a bunch of kids who have as little as those who play in the Wichita little league dedicated to Robinson’s memory do.

"And to then dismember and burn the likeness of the first man to cross baseball’s color line and leave its charred remains in another public park Tuesday morning, so as to send a very public signal?"
